    Your choice of RPMs to install is wrong. You usually don't want to just
    install the source code; youwant to compile it, and then install it. This
    sometimes involves installing many prerequisite RPMs first.

    Which is what apt-rpm is for, BTW. It figures out what the dependencies of
    the RPM you are installing are, and then goes and gets and installs all
    those dependencies, so that everything installs properly.

    You may want to investigate and try that method.
