Maybe it's related to Debian bug "#96201: Postfix: qmgr no longer logs
from address" ( http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=96201 ).
Wietse (on 14 Dec 2001) wrote to postfix-users (it's quoted above):
"This happens when you restart syslogd while Postfix runs chrooted
but no syslog socket exists inside the chroot jail."
