On the subject of Postfix main.cf parameter name prefixes that are
somehow derived from, well, from what?

On the contrary. What parameter names can be prefixed, and what
processes are eligible is the core of the matter. I foresee a lot
of confusion if this is not done properly.

If we make all the main.cf parameters prefixable then we're even
worse off than having them listed in master.cf. If we make an
arbitrary choice of what parameters or what processes are eligible,
    then people will be confused.

I fail to see how prefixes for some parameters for some processes
helps to document wich parameters are being used by which Postfix
daemon processes. Sounds to me that we made things a lot more
    complicated.
