This would be OK, as long as the files referred to are empty. If they
have things in them, we cannot work out what might happen with mail.

This is not correct, it should be something like
smtpd_sender_restrictions = check_sender_access hash:/etc/postfix/access
But if the file is empty it won't make a difference

Is this file empty?
