Hi,
I have read the sample virtual.cf and read through the whole main.cf.
Having never used sendmail I don't know what a "sendmail style" virtual
domain consists of. I've read through a lot of these posts on virtual
domains and hosting (it seems as though i'm not the only one confused) and
i'm just wanting to get a laymen's breakdown on it.
It seems that there are as many different scenarios on how to set this up as
the amount of spam i get on hotmail accounts. Currently the situation that
i need to figure out is .----. you have one machine, local users and this
machine recieves mail for x number of domains. no matter what the doman the
mail is destined for on the local box..it goes to the same user. i.e.
<username> gets mail for username
domain1.net username
domanin2.net etc.
all spool to the same place. Currently i have an older installation of
postfix ( 20010228) and i have gotten this to work by simply sticking the
extra domain (domainextra.com) at the end of the "mydestination"
parameter..(is this an acceptable method?)
Would i use the sendmail style (whatever that is) or the postfix style?
<i'd like to have the "best practice" answer>
The next thing however won't be so simple..I'm going to start hosting some
domains and thus..i'll have many users that won't actully have logons on the
box...so at this point..do i have to use the virtual deliveryv agent? If
so, is it best to use a database with it? and finally.....authentication
for this sitution..any preferences? ldap or (and i've not seen this mention
before here, wonder if anyone uses it) radius server???
Please help
Thanks in advance
Aaron
