This is correct, but leads to the wrong conclusion. LOGIN has never been
supported by the SASL folks.
Simply because it supports an implemenation of SASL that's based on an RFC
draft, but not the final RFC.
So the baseline is: LOGIN works, but don't expect any help by the SASL
folks.
