postfix suddenly quit: timeout error

From: Paul Tremblay (phthenryearthlink.net)

Postfix appears to suddenly have quit on me.

I have a standalone box. I am running Linux, Mandrake 8.1.I am a single user with absolutely no connection to any networks.

I have been sending emails with no problem whatsoever. However, suddenly messages got stuck in my mailque. I get this error message:

C6D703492E 546 Tue Apr 1 14:15:43 paullocaldomain.net
(host smtp.earthlink.net[207.217.121.221] said: 421 flamingo.mail.pas.earthlink.net: SMTP command timeout - closing connection)
                                         phthenryearthlink.net

I have chatted with earthlink support for a few hours now, and I keep getting the same message from them: "We don't support linux."

If I keep trying to send the email, I get the same error message. Eventually, some of the emails might make it through. But most does not.

I don't know where to start trying to fix this problem. I don't believe I should just send my whole main.cf problem. I have not changed a thing in any of my configuration files. I just opened my main.cf file, and it seems fine--not corrupted.

I should also add that I can receive emails with no problem.

Thanks

Paul
