.forward & alias operation

I've been running my mail server on sendmail for some years and have a
problem switching to Postfix as something that worked with sendmail
now, er doesn't.
On my current system I use an alias that points to the real user
PRECEDED BY A BACKSLASH so no further forwarding is done. This way I
can send to the same person with or without their own forwarding
(~/.forward file) depending on the name I use. This works perfectly
with sendmail, but Postfix seems to NOT respect the backslash and all
mail follows the .forward directions.
Am I missing something, or does Postfix genuinely ignore the backslash?
Is this recognised as a bug? Are there plans to fix it does anyone know?
How else could I cause Postfix to NOT forward SOME messages?
Hope someone can help here.
