Yes it is.

Are you speaking with authority with respect to the intent of the
project? I thought that the intent was a broader user base but that
opinion is not formed on anything substantive.

I can only speak for myself. Some of what you are asking is associated
with my personality disorder ;-) The greater the intellectual challenge
- the more determined I become. I also have the time (at this time) to
pursue the challenge.
Over the years, I have also made it my custom to be independent. Most
people would not want to be our accountant because we challenge him,
read the tax law, stay up to date on Board standards and I won't sign
anything that I don't completely understand. The CPA is probably the
better for it.
As for "dissing" people, there are some very fragile egos around here. I
have repeatedly said that I am a "nitwit." How much more humble would
you like me to be? While I can be extremely sarcastic I don't think that
"talent" has been exhibited in this forum.
With all due respect there have been times when some of the
professionals here have seemingly been intentionally esoteric or
obfuscatory. Not to me personally and I'm not pointing any fingers
because I don't necessarily read entire threads. I'm sure that you would
agree that IF people are doing that, it would not be the first time that
someone made things complex for their own ego or self-subscribed power
base.
But what your question really boils down to is the arrogance associated
with the belief that we - or anyone - can get an MTA up and running
without employing a professional.
It would be easy to dismiss this with the economic logic but that's not
really truthful. We like doing things ourselves. Maybe we're schmucks
but we're honest schmucks. I think that we know what we don't know.
Perhaps that will change.
