Oh, so it's win2k without AD. Then you would need winbind, yes.
A trick is the way nss_winbind sees your users, it's like
DOMAIN\User, which obviously doesn't match user
domain.tld. But you
can change this with the "winbind use default domain" set to "yes"
instead of the default at "no".
But I'm not sure how postfix decides if the user exists or not, if
it tries /etc/passwd directly then winbind won't work.
