We have some mobile users who travel and wish to maintain a consistent
mail identity. I don't know that any of them have Earthlink, but
whatever they
are doing, other providers can do also; I was using that as an
example. Another class of user for whom this is an issue are those who
are migrating to
various DLS services in preference to dialup access. Many of these also
wish to
have a consistent email identity, as they may DSL at home, but our service
when in the office, etc.
I located an example of setting up Postfix to talk to a different port.
Is it
able to handle multiple ports? If so, it might be possible for clients
to use
the standard port, unless it turns out not to work, and only then get into
changing the port setting in their software? We have found that simpler
is better for customers.
TIA,
Al Becker
