mysql and ldap timeouts

Hi all,

I'm connecting to someone else's ldap server and I do
not have the privileges to set the timeout or debug
levels. Does postfix wait until the default ldap
timeout occurs and does it have its own safety
timeout?

How do I set a mysql timeout? It looks like a default
of 4 minutes in my logs.
