nothing works...

Hello there!

I'm trying to put online a web/mail server using the same machine.
I registred a domain like www.mydomain.com and asked my dns admin (wich is outside my network) to add a mxrecord pointing
mydomain.com to my.server.ip.adress.

Since I'm behind a firewall I created the proper rules to allow trafic to/from the server.

The ideia is to use the same machine/ip adress to have the site responding www.mydomain.com and also send/receive emails as someonemydomain.com

I'm also using uw imap/pop client and teh OS is mandrake 9.2

The problem is that though the site is working fine I can't make my postfix work... :(

Using webmin I'm able to send messages from one user to the other but all the messages remain in the mail queue... never arrive to the user's mailbox.

Can someone please give me an hint about how to setup postfix correcly?

here goes the output from postconf -n

alias_database = hash:/etc/postfix/aliases
alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/aliases, hash:/var/lib/mailman/data/aliases
command_directory = /usr/sbin
config_directory = /etc/postfix
daemon_directory = /usr/lib/postfix
debug_peer_level = 2
delay_warning_time = 4
mail_spool_directory = /var/spool/mail
mailbox_command = /usr/bin/procmail -Y -a $DOMAIN
mailq_path = /usr/bin/mailq.postfix
manpage_directory = /usr/share/man
myorigin = $myhostname, $mydomain
newaliases_path = /usr/bin/newaliases.postfix
owner_request_special = no
readme_directory = /usr/share/doc/postfix-2.0.13/README_FILES
recipient_delimiter = +
sample_directory = /usr/share/doc/postfix-2.0.13/samples
sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail.postfix
setgid_group = postdrop
smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name ($mail_version) (Mandrake Linux)
unknown_local_recipient_reject_code = 450

I also have this error repeated many many many times on my /var/log/mail/errors file

Feb 2 18:34:33 xxxx postfix/local[4239]: fatal: open database /var/lib/mailman/data/aliases.db: No such file or directory

Another thing that happens if I try to send and email to myselfmydomain.com using my isp smtp is that i receive the mail back with the following error message: " ...the recipient was unavailable to take delivery of the message (...bla bla bla...) Host unreachable".

Thanks!

Pedro
