maildrop won't create directories. You'll have to use Courier's
maildirmake for each directory you want to make. Johan Vriesman has
published a script for automating this for LDAP, but it won't help you
much for MySQL.
Otherwise, both Courier IMAP and maildrop have their own mailing lists.
