EBay's not an email service provider either, though -- you can't be
joerandomuserebay.com and send mail using that address just because you
have a commerce account with them.

My point was that with a single company, which can only send mail on
behalf of its automated systems or its employees, there's a single point
of trust, which is lacking for an ISP. I can make the decision to
trust or not trust a /24 owned by EBay based on that, but I can't make a
valid decision to trust a /24 owned by an ISP.
