Correct, you can't use *local* aliases. However, *virtual* aliases
(virtual_maps) affect all mail. Read aliases(5) and the Postfix
documentation.

recipient_canonical_maps is the wrong tool for this purpose,
and it requires Postfix 2.1 anyway.
