Postqueue time consuming

Hi all,
I use "postqueue -p" every minute on my system to monitor queue size
(number of messages). The problem is that this command is very time
consuming (and may be ressource-consuming ?) when there are about 100
messages in my queue, which may happen often in my case.
Is there a way to accelerate this command ?
Will a "find | wc -l" or something like that on the queue directory
could be reliable and faster ?

I have another question about queues: if I mounted a directory
/var/spool on disk2 in my machine, while configuration files are on
disk1. By setting the queue directory to /var/spool, am I sure to have
all messages stored physically in disk2 ? And do I have disk1 completely
reliefed from messages weight ?

Any help is very valuable, thanks a lot
Ali
