this is rubbish too.

bind's format has remained remarkably stable over the years. the only
time i've ever had to change zonefiles after upgrading was when i tried
out version 9.x - and that version was a complete rewrite of bind.

even then, it wasn't incompatible with the older format....it was just a lot
stricter about enforcing the documented requirements. sloppiness in the
zonefiles that was OK with previous versions was not OK with 9.x.
