message line endings on MacOSX -- UNIX vs DOS?

hi all,

i've built postfix-tls-nonprod on osx 10.3.7

i'm using cyrus-imap-2.1.20 as an external message store.

using a text editor, i note that messages processed by postfix show up in the
message store where/as expected, but have DOS-style (^M) line-endings.

i'd expect that messages are stored in the OS's 'native' format -- for OSX,
UNIX-style.

in following some _old_ threads on the topic, there's discussion that its' the
"job of the MTA" to convert line-endings to native format, but i've not found
the resolution/end of those disucssions.

can/does Postfix store/process msgs w/ UNIX line endings? where/how do i
specify such?

thanks!

richard
