This phenomenon would be explained in the ADDRESS_CLASS_README. Local
settings do not affect virtual alias domain addresses.

The low figure probably means your server is a backscatterer, accepting
mail for non-existent addresses, then sending bounces out to forged
addresses.
You need recipient maps to solve this problem. I suggest you do that
ASAP, because backscatterers are likely to end up on RBL's now.
Chances are high that your whole problem will go away when you fix the
backscatter issue.
