Two Questions: Division of Labor and NFS issues

Hello All,

I am being asked to break up the workload on our Postfix setup.
Currently, we have one external and one internal server running:

Slowlaris 9
Postfix
SASL
Amavisd-New
ClamAV
SpamAssassin
Razor
DCC
Mailman
WU-IMAP

To better handle the load, we want to build four new mail machines:

1. Primary MX, WU-IMAP
2. Backup MX, WU-IMAP
3. Dedicated SPAM/Virus scanner
4. Mailman

Can someone point me to some docs that will allow me to have everything
pass through the Scanner Box and then be queued on one of the MX
machines for local delivery or sending on its way to the proper external
destination?

One other question: NFS is killing us, especially when Mailman goes to
deliver announcements to our thousands of users. /var/mail is mounted
FROM the primary MX to the secondary MX and a handful of shell-access
machines. As Mailman delivers to each user, it is creating file locks
that aren't being released in a timely manner and users are unable to
check their mail, nor is Postfix able to deliver mail while the NFS-lock
exists. I just have to wait. We have some serious architectural issues.
Any advice?

Thanks to any and all who may be of assistance.

Cheers,

Gordon Thagard
