The above symptoms are *severe*. Do not just sweep them under the rug.
Configure the system with sufficiently low process limits to avoid
running out of memory. Identify and Fix any hardware issues, and make
sure your Postfix software is the latest patch level for its release
(1.1.13, 2.0.20, 2.1.5 or 2.2.3, but at this point anything older than
2.1.5 is questionable).

Postfix does not run this broken on other systems.
