Mirror Mailserver

Maybe this is not the best place to ask this, but I couldn't think of
anywhere else to ask. I tried to look for answers in google but no luck.

Here goes:

I have a postfix mail server in location A. It also serves as my pop and
imap server. I have availed another site to provide services as backup
MXs to my primary MX. Twice, I have lost the internet connections to my
mail server because of my provider. I haven't lost any mails but have
lost productivity because my pop/imap servers were also down.

I would like to know how I can make a mirror server at another location,
which can also act as a pop/imap backup server. So far all I could come
up with is have it listed as a backup MX just below my primary MX but
above my other backup MXs. Then, rsync my primary and mirror server
every 10 mins or so. This way, if my primary goes down, I can just tell
my users to change their pop and imap settings to point to the backup
server. I could just have DNS make the switchover but that means I have
to keep my DNS TTL low (half hour or so..unacceptable).

Here are a few questions I have

1) Is it possible for me to make my primary MX postfix server forward a
copy of all mails to my backup server rather than rsync the two machines.

2) Can I make my backup server act like a secondary MX and as a backup
server. If I can, how can I make it keep a copy of the mail itself and
then forward them to the primary server when it comes online.

Also are there any other problems that I haven't thought of?

Thanks
Adhish
