2 problems: first, he did say he wasn't running DNS, so there might not
be a nameserver on 127.0.0.1. Second, if the IP is being assigned
through dynamic means such as DHCP, resolv.conf will be overwritten at
the next lease renewal.

Also, there's probably no need for "search dbsch1.nb.home.nl".

And in some GNU/Linux that page might be called resolver(5).

My suggestion to the OP is to check out dnsmasq. You can publish your
own local DNS easily using your /etc/hosts file. External DNS uses your
ISP nameservers.
