I highly recommend lowering the cache time for negative answers drastically
(to something like 1min or lower), because of the interaction between
sender address verification on the receiving end and greylisting on the
sending end. (My wish: allow to specify different cache times for 4xx and
5xx negatives.)
Other than that, my experience so far (ca. 2 weeks, I think) with generally
enabling SAV on my very low-volume server is only positive. I have one
misconfigured system (telebasel.ch, they send with '...
mail.telebasel.ch'
envelope, but don't accept mail. So they don't get any bounces anyway...)
in my whitelist because I need to accept their mail, and then there are
some mailing list with unique envelope senders (groups.yahoo, lkml, IIRC
the postgres lists, ... - the same list you can also find in postgrey's
default whitelist.) which would work with sav, but I just didn't want to
cause that load.
greetings
