Hi Stephen,
Would it be possible to send the same email from both locations (ie,
manually through your proxy (using sendmail binary, rather than netcat),
and normally through your mail server) to another email address under
your control, and then compare the differences in the final email headers ?
You will probably want to use tcpdump or something like that while you
are doing it, to see if there are any real differences that the
receiving mailserver could detect, and reject for some reason.
