Please don't top-post. Thank you.

Basic, IMO essential, sysadmin skills. I don't envy you the task of
running a MTA without those skills.

Postfix can do many things via external MDA's like maildrop and also
through the pipe(8) interface. I also don't agree that it's a basic
feature. I see the spam problem quite well; in fact it exceeds 90% of
the SMTP traffic for many domains.

The basic feature is to turn away the spam before it troubles your
system in finding ways to sweep it under your users' virtual rugs.
Postfix handles the basics quite well:

http://www.postfix.org/SMTPD_ACCESS_README.html
http://www.postfix.org/RESTRICTION_CLASS_README.html
[ among other documentation ]

My users do not have a significant issue with spam, and I do not miss
your "basic feature."

It is worthy of note that our disagreement concerns what is "basic". I
would suggest that you work on becoming more comfortable with basic
administration of your OS first.
