troubleshooting guide

Hello,
 
I search but I could find any good troubleshooting
link.

Basically I created an account varunsaice.edu
using Kmail and sent a self mail.

The mail is sent but it is stuck in /var/spool/mail.

I want to learn troubleshooting in details.

So if anybody has any link to a tutorial, please help.
