Greetings list, I need some (re) configuration guidance on a production
postfix server that I inherited. This server is the currently the sole
authoritative email server for my domain uvi.edu and presently houses
the mailbox files for all users.
We presently house staff and students on this system all using the same
domain, uvi.edu. I want to separate staff and students, placing the
staff on a new Exchange server and leaving the students and their
mailboxes on the postfix server. I want the students to use the domain
students.uvi.edu while the staff on Exchange continue to use uvi.edu.
This postfix server should be the holder of the MX records for both
domains and will deliver local mail for the students and relay the staff
mail to the exchange server. The exchange server will relay through the
postfix server.
Users are stored in an LDAP directory. I would like to determine
whether a recipient is staff (relay to exchange) or student (deliver
locally) based on the gidnumber stored in LDAP.
Are there any Fads or docs or other resource that shows me step by step
how to do this? My experience with postfix is very limited.
