A very initial question

Dear Postfix friends.
I am dealing with an environment where there are around 20.000 intranet
users which have a 100% MS Exchange/Outlook email for them.
Now there is an opportunity to do something new for the other 30.000
users which are to be provided only with a web based email.
I have a few questions to address me in the right direction please:
1) All 50.000 need to have a name
company.com email and the SMTP should
be able to route the 20.000 which have exchange to the exchange server
while the rest on a new "MDA" (was thinking about dovecot/openwebmail).
Any ideas on the best way to do this ? Maybe an LDAP backend which
replicates the MS Active Directory users and adds the new ones plus a
flag in the schema saying where their mail should go ?
2) Are there any graphical architectural drawing of the various
components that could be used in such a solution (Postfix, Dovecot,
OpenWebMail, SpamAssassin, Amivsd, Apache, LDAP etc etc
3) Sorry if it's a FAQ but where can I find metrics to estimate the
hardware needed for such a solution ?
Thank you very much for your patience and possibly for your help.
Bob
