Imo, the real fix is to fix the broken software that cannot handle SMTP
traffic properly. If it has to deal with any older Postfix installs, or
other software that cannot be recompiled, it's going to break (and if it's
not an app with available source, you can't fix it!). Postfix isn't at fault
here, the software on the unit that can't handle the string is at fault.
