RFC recomendations "discontinues" the long standing tradition.

[...] The local-part of a mailbox MUST BE treated as case sensitive.
Therefore, SMTP implementations MUST take care to preserve the case of
mailbox local-parts. Mailbox domains are not case sensitive.
