Sounds like you need to read the book!

It seems to me that what you really want is not to "stop everyone but
the people on my list", you want "only accept mail for the people on my
list". In other words, it seems that you want to set up an pretty
standard configuration of Postfix for receiving email to a small
organisation.
If what you want is something different, please say so. Otherwise the
book seems to be the best option for you right now - but I'm basing
that judgment on other people's reviews of the book, I haven't actually
sat down with it and tried to set up a server from scratch pretending
that I know nothing.
