Wietse dont kill me

Ok, I have run through even the most simple configs to no avail.

I have a postfix server setup as primary for domain <lists.mydomain.com> in the alias file I have setup root to point to memydomain.com.

I had main.cf setup to say relayhost = mydomain.com but that gets rejected with unable to relay. But further reading lead me to believe that by setting relayhost in main.cf it would tell postfix not to check the MX record via DNS. Which is what I want. Because although the list currently only have memydomain.com it will have someoneanydomain.com.

However not setting relayhost gives me the error msg "Loops back to myself". So that makes me think that postfix is not checking for an mx record for the domain mydomain.com. And I am not sure why.

The main.cf I am using worked perfectly when this postfix server was the main mx for mydomain.com. All I did was move it to the new domain lists.mydomain.com. The name of the server then became server.lists.mydomain.com.
