Yes, you will find that twiddling with the IMAP server is but a small
portion of your troubles in learning how to set up a full service mail
server. The MTA is the hard part.

Fortunately basic functionality in Postfix is pretty easy. The OP made
it far more difficult by choosing virtual mailbox domains. That was why
I recommended local(8) as per the BASIC_CONFIGURATION_README.

The choice between Courier-IMAP and Dovecot can be a flip of the coin
these days. Dovecot SASL (which requires the 1.0-Beta series and
Postfix 2.3) is very nice when it comes to setting up SMTP AUTH. But
Courier's authdaemond is similar in function.

I would recommend that the choice be made depending on versions. If one
is willing to compile from source and use software labelled as "beta",
Postfix 2.3 and Dovecot 1.0-Beta are good choices. If you want to use a
binary distribution, Courier-IMAP would be best.

[1] And they say there are no psychics on this list? Poppycock.
[2] Mouss: truly ahead of his time. :)
