I just confirmed the following:
1. telnet from mailinglist-server with mailinglistaddress: timeout on two
external servers
2. telnet from mailinglist-server with non-mailinglistaddress: accepted
3. telnet from non-mailinglist-server with mailinglistaddress: accepted
4. telnet from non-mailinglist-server with non-mailinglistaddress:
accepted
So, if you were to test the connection even with that mailinglistaddress,
you would see nothing strange.
Dang !
I am talking now with the sysadmins of one of those servers, who is
friendly, to see what happens at the other end of the conversation.

PS The mind boggles: based on email address (application level)
tcp-packets are dropped (network level) ??? There must be something wrong
here....
