At about 4 pm, postfix died. Looking in /var/log/'system.log, I
see a pile of "Host not found" and "address not listed" warnings:

  Feb 1 16:05:15 g3po postfix/smtpd[23368]: warning: 80.224.55.62:
  hostname 62-55-224-80... verification failed: Host not found

  Feb 1 16:05:17 g3po postfix/smtpd[23368]: warning: 201.246.222.196:
  address not listed for hostname 196-223-246-201.adsl.terra.cl

followed by some more unusual messages:

  Feb 1 16:05:18 g3po postfix/master[38]: panic: master_status_event:
    pointer corruption: 0x3049f800 != 0x3049f8

  Feb 1 16:05:19 g3po launchd: org.postfix.master:
    exited abnormally: Abort trap

  Feb 1 16:05:19 g3po launchd: org.postfix.master:
    9 more failures without living at least 60 seconds will cause job
removal

  Feb 1 16:05:19 g3po postfix/smtpd[23454]: warning:
    connect #1 to subsystem private/rewrite: Connection refused
  ...

  Feb 1 16:05:19 g3po postfix/master[23477]: fatal:
    bind INADDR_ANY port 25: Address already in use

  Feb 1 16:05:19 g3po postfix/smtpd[23470]: warning:
    connect #1 to subsystem private/rewrite: Connection refused

  ...

    respawning too quickly! throttling

removal

After taking these notes, I rebooted the machine. Any thoughts on what
might
have happened or what I should examine if it happens again?
