A good tool to check if saslauthd is working before starting the abuse
of postfix and its services is testsaslauthd which is part of the source
didtribution of cyrus sasl I believe
You use like this
testsaslauthd -u angelos
unix.gr -p ssshhh_secret
0: OK "Success."
First get to that point and then look under postfix's hood
if it give you "connect() : No such file or directory" then saslauthd is
dead ,and on "NO "authentication failed" you have a misconfiguration of
bad password !
