I have removed the spurious white space so the master.cf last 4 lines are
now as:

scache unix - - n - 1 scache
discard unix - - n - - discard
tlsmgr unix - - n 1000? 1 tlsmgr
retry unix - - n - - error

copied corrected 2.4's master.cf and main.cf to /etc/postfix;

stopped/started/reloaded postfix;

# postfix check
#

anything else I need to fix ?
