Hello,
We have the following setup: our mail hub is a postfix server
configured (possibly incorrectly?) to allow any machine in the
10.1.1.x network to relay.
We have 3 webservers setup on the 10.1.1.x network with ssmtp
configured to send mail through the hub, and masquerade as our actual
mail server.
For some reason, we keep getting A LOT of returned mail looking like this:
<emailaddress
aapt.net.au>: host dialupmx.connect.com.au[210.8.231.38] said: 550
5.1.1 <emailaddress
aapt.net.au>: Recipient address rejected: unknown user
(in reply to RCPT TO command)
When we are sure that most of these addresses are in fact valid. I
get the feeling something else is wrong here. If I watch the mail.log
on our mail server, everything seems to be going ok - no 550 errors
there, we only get them when the mail is returned.
This only started happening this week when we started using ssmtp.
Prior to ssmtp, each webserver had it's own postfix installation and
would be set up to appear as though mail coming from them was actually
mail coming from our webserver. For some reason, this led us to be
listed in the CBL - I believe because our webservers are on different
IP addresses than our mail server (any correction here would be
great), hence the change.
Any help here would be appreciated.
