The mail system itself only requires one domain name.
example:
myhostname = mail.example.com
mydomain = example.com
myorigin = $mydomain
Mail created by the system itself will now appear to originate from
example.com.

It not that it is better, if you don't want to experiment then it would be a good idea to first understand what the mydomain and mydestination settings are used for.
