Overriding DNS lookups for a specific domain

Thanks for the reply Wietse -- however, I don't think this will work for me (I did not give all the details, my bad -- def.org will not just accept all forwarded emails for xyz.org -- it will only accept them if they go through the specific MX hosts configured for xyz.org in external DNS -- for example, xyz.org.server2.def.org).

But now I have a different question -- how do I override DNS for the whole xyz.org domain on my server? To clarify:

abc.org has multiple mail accounts which are simple alias forwards to xyz.org accounts. abc.org currently uses internal nameservers in resolv.conf, which resolve xyz.org to another internal server. However, xyz.org resolves to def.org's MX records for external DNS lookups. def.org is an external/third-party server. I want to force my internal server abc.org to resolve xyz.org to def.org's mail servers, but still use the nameservers in resolv.conf for resolving domains other than xyz.org.

Can I do this with postfix?

Thanks again,

Andy> > I have a postfix install which handles email for abc.org. Most of the incoming email to this domain is simply forwarded to a corresponding address at xyz.org, using the aliases file. I would like to redirect incoming emails for joeabc.org (currently forwarded to joexyz.org) to a different mail server, def.org, but not affect the handling of any other incoming email for abc.org. > > Use a virtual alias map, NOT a virtual alias DOMAIN.> > /etc/postfix/main.cf:> virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual> > /etc/postfix/virtual:> joeexample.org joeexample.com> > Wietse
