I apologize!! Wietse answered this on the list on Feb. 9th, thank you!!
I needed to read:

http://www.postfix.org/postconf.5.html#transport_destination_concurrency_limit

You substitute the name of the filter for "transport" in the above. (and
spell concurrency correctly!)

With this line in my main.cf:

    content_filter = smtp-amavis:[198.80.11.34]:10124

I also needed to add:

    smtp-amavis_destination_concurrency_limit = 30
