Generally, use the "relay" transport for mail that you accept
on behalf of another, regardless if the actual destination is
an internal server or off-site somewhere.
But it will work using either relay or smtp.
Postfix uses the transport name for scheduling in the queue.
Deferred mail for the "smtp" transport won't clog up mail for
the "relay" transport (unless there is so much deferred mail
that the whole machine is bogged down).
