i just upgraded
to
http://www.openspf.org/blobs/postfix-policyd-spf-perl-2.007.tar.gz
based on
http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/J/JM/JMEHNLE/mail-spf/Mail-SPF-v2.006.tar.gz
which had a bug in the past with the new dns spf record type
( think its fixed now, but there was also a workaround)
i prefer using this cause of easy whitelisting with access tables
in postfix for broken spf records and easy install
i never had big problems with it
but i guess you will not run into trouble using python
or milters for spf
