'<Iuser.surname.domain>' ... a litany of typos on your part? Or is that
really the envelope recipient you're passing to maildrop?

Looks like a maildrop issue. Postfix, via pipe(8), is the messenger of bad
news. Configure maildrop to recognize user.surnamedomain.
