If mail sent to XXXXXexample.org should be delivered to local mailbox
YYYYY, you need a line like this in example.cf:

----8<----
XXXXXexample.org YYYYY
---->8----

Is that line present in /usr/local/etc/postfix/example.cf, and did you
run "postmap /usr/local/etc/postfix/example.cf"?
