    Hello,

My name is Rob Lee. It is my great pleasure to invite you to SANSFIRE
2002, an intense immersion training environment focusing on Forensics,
Investigations, Response, and Education. SANSFIRE 2002 is happening June
27 - July 2, 2002 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel connected to the
Prudential Center in the heart of Boston, MA.

    When the unthinkable occurs...
At some point, every organization of any size will encounter a situation
when their security safeguards fail. Like firemen, police, and soldiers
that are called to duty in times of need, your response teams will be
powerless to help unless they are fully prepared, with hands-on
training, to respond to many types of crisis situations.

SANSFIRE 2002 focuses on these uncommon and unexpected incidents and
will help prepare you with the knowledge and the virtual fire hose to
put out these fires. Incident Response, Forensics and Investigations
are as necessary to an organization_s effective recovery as a good
firewall is to the organization_s defense.

Coupling the exciting Systems Forensics, Investigations, and Response
track with in-depth technical programs at night, SANSFIRE provides the
student with an unsurpassed learning environment. And like every SANS
program, SANSFIRE classes contain information that you can begin to
apply the day you return to work.

Over the past year, technology and the law have changed significantly.
Wireless devices are found in every sector of business and the
government. With the Patriot Act, the legal landscape has changed in
ways none of us could have predicted. SANSFIRE 2002 tackles these issues
and takes them to the next level. Our instructors from law enforcement,
government, and business cover these changes and take you deep into
trans-border foreign legal concerns. Our instructors also demonstrate
the latest tools, methods, and techniques in forensics technology,
    including wireless devices.

SANSFIRE 2002 provides a hands-on learning environment appropriate for
both new and seasoned practitioners who want to hone their own skills
and share their experiences with the forensic community. SANSFIRE also
offers the popular SANS Security Essentials Track. In addition, for
those of you who already have some experience and are ready to gain the
advanced knowledge necessary to excel in information security, we will
be offering all our popular advanced, Level Two tracks:

Track 2: Firewalls, Perimeter Protection and VPNs
    Track 3: Intrusion Detection In-Depth
Track 4: Hacker Techniques, Exploits and Incident Handling
    Track 5: Securing Windows
    Track 6: Securing UNIX Systems
Track 7: Auditing Networks, Perimeters and Systems

SANSFIRE 2002 takes place in Boston at the best time of the year to
visit the cradle of American democracy. Boston has a history that dates
back to the founding of our nation. A walk along the Freedom Trail will
bring you face to face with this great heritage. Among the sites to be
seen on this historic walking tour is the USS Constitution, the famous
battleship that is also known as "Old Ironsides." You can also visit
Quincy Market at Faniuel Hall. If it is great Italian food you like,
the North End boasts some of the greatest restaurants in the country.
From great sports teams and the wonderful activities on Boston Commons
to a vibrant nightlife, Boston offers something for everyone. You might
also consider staying a few days after the end of the conference to
experience Boston_s Fourth of July and the world famous Boston Pops
fireworks concert. I hope to see you there,
