Dear Colleague,
This May, join us in the SANS Portal for two fee webcasts; May 5,
Bluetooth Wireless and May 12, for The Internet Storm Center: Threat
Update. If you've never tuned into a SANS webcast before, see the
simple instructions at the end of this message.

It seems there is no shortage of security concerns for wireless
technology these days. While many of us have become keenly aware of
the risks associated with 802.11 wireless networking, few organizations
have considered the risks of Bluetooth wireless technology. Many
reports cite that the number of Bluetooth-enabled devices has surpassed
the number of 802.11 wireless devices! In this webcast, wireless
security expert Joshua Wright will introduce the main components of the
Bluetooth protocol while covering the top 7 security challenges of this
growing technology, along with strategies on protecting organizations
from Bluetooth attacks.
Joshua Wright has consulted with Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies
and educational institutions on issues relating to wireless security,
vulnerability assessment, penetration tests, router security and secure
network design. He regularly presents at conferences on issues relating
to wireless security, and is currently working with several wireless
LAN vendors on how attackers exploit weaknesses in wireless networks
and associated protocols. Joshua currently serves as the deputy
directory of training for the SANS Institute and is the author of
several papers on wireless security and intrusion analysis. He is also
the co-author of "Securing Cisco Routers: Step-by-Step".

SANS Internet Storm Center (ISC) uses advanced data correlation and
visualization techniques to analyze data collected from thousands of
sensors in over sixty countries. Recent threats observed by the ISC,
and new software vulnerabilities or system exposures that were disclosed
over the past month are discussed during this webcast. ISC is presented
by senior staff member, Johannes Ullrich. The general format is about
30 minutes followed by a question and answer period.
Johannes Ullrich is currently responsible for the SANS Internet Storm
Center. In addition, as part of the SANS sysadmin team, he is managing
some of SANS's systems and networks. Prior to working for SANS, Johannes
worked as a lead support engineer for a web development company and as
a research physicist. Johannes holds a Ph.D. in Physics and is resides
outside of Boston, MA.

SANS Webcasts are wonderful for filling in the gaps, but they are not
a substitute for face-to-face training. SANS Washington DC 2004, July
26-31, offers 6 training tracks and two additional 2-day mini sessions
August 1-2, to provide effective hands-on instructions to satisfy the
beginner or more advanced practitioner. Go to
http://www.sans.org/washingtondc04/ for further information.

SANS live web broadcasts will allow you to hear a knowledgeable speaker
while viewing presentation slides that you download in advance. In order
to access the webcasts, you will need a SANS portal account and either
Real Audio Player or Windows Media Player (free downloads are available
at our website). If you do not already have a portal account, just go
to http://portal.sans.org and fill in the simple registration form, it's
free! Your account will give you access to archive of past webcasts.
