"What Works in Log Management"
Featuring: Pete J. Boergermann and Alan Paller
Wednesday, August 31 at 11:00 AM EDT (1500 UTC)
https://www.sans.org/webcasts/show.php?webcastid=90597
Sponsored by LogLogic

A $1.2 billion community bank headquartered in northern Pennsylvania
was looking for a solution to a common problem: how to automate the
log monitoring process and comply with Gramm Leach Bliley and Sarbanes
Oxley. Learn how their research led them to a solution that was easy
and cost-effective even for small organizations. SANS What Works
initiative employs SANS research to illuminate a user story that
brings to life the benefits (and problems) of an effective security
tool. The user story is presented as a webcast interview - in essence
a conversation between SANS Director of Research, Alan Paller, and a
person who uses the security product. The conversation attempts to
answer all the questions a prospective buyer might ask a satisfied
(but unbiased) user.

Master Certified Novell Engineer and a Cisco Certified Network
Associate, Pete Boergermann joined Citizens and Northern Bank in 1998
as Network Administrator. He is now Manager of the MIS Technical
Department, Senior Network Engineer, and IT Security Officer. He
actively serves on the Pennsylvania Bankers Associations, Member
Services Policy Committee. He is currently enrolled in BAI Graduate
School for Bank Operations and Technology. Pete has served on the
Pennsylvania Bankers Associations Technology and Operations Committee
for several years, chaired the committee, along with writing several
articles for the PBA magazine. He has over ten years of experience in
network development/implementation, by working for a local reseller
and running his own network consulting company. He has served for
four years in the United States Air Force, and one year in the Army
National Guard.
